UEFA has announced the first UEFA Group Stage match for FIFA Referee Clayton Pisani since his promotion to Category 1 earlier this year. Clayton Pisani shall be the referee of the UEFA Europa League Group H match, Sporting Clube de Portugal (Portugal) vs KF Skenderbeu (Albania), being played at the magnificent Estadio Jose Alvalade stadium in Lisbon on Thursday 22nd October 2015 at 1800hrs.  The Malta FA Refereeing Department has appointed FIFA Assistant Referees Alan Camilleri and Mitchell Scerri, FIFA Referee Marco Borg and Elite Referee Philip Farrugia as additional assistant referees, while FIFA Assistant Referee Edward Spiteri will carry out the duties as 4th Official. UEFA has appointed Volodymyr Petrov (Ukraine) as the referee observer of the match, while Marton Esterhazy (Hungary) has been appointed as Match Delegate. This is the first ever appointment for a Maltese refereeing team in the UEFA Europa League Group Stages, although former FIFA Referee Charles Agius had led a Maltese refereeing team that officiated a UEFA Champions’ League Group Stage match, Rosenborg BK vs FC Porto (0-1) at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim, Norway on 16th October 1996.  Charles Agius was assisted by FIFA Assistant Referees Emanuel Zammit and Joseph Attard, while FIFA Referee Lawrence Sammut had acted as 4th Official. In a statement to the media, Director of Refereeing Adrian Casha expressed the Association’s enormous satisfaction by stating that: “this is indeed another important chapter in the history of Maltese refereeing, the result of hard work, commitment and dedication by our match officials and the vision of the MFA to invest in its referees and train them in a professional manner.”
