A very much awaited competition at the end of the season is the Members Association Tournament. The event, organised by the Standing Committee of the Members Associations within the MFA, is covered by the parent association as far as expenses for the use of football venues, referees, trophies and medals are concerned.   The first edition was held last year and was won by ISA, with the second attracting five participants and necessitating a preliminary round. SWAN accounted for MESA in the preliminary match played on 1 June at the Melita Ground. They then defeated ISA in the first semi-final on 4 June at the Centenary Stadium, while GIDA had the better of MFCA in the other semi-final on the same day, both matches being played at the Centenary Stadium. In the final played on 5 June at the same venue SWAN held possession for long stretches before GIDA forged ahead in the opening half against the run of play through Kurt Coleiro. But SWAN turned the tables with two second half goals scored by Matthew Pace and Kirsten Brincat to clinch the title. The match was controlled by Kevin Azzopardi who was assisted on the flanks by Peter Abela and Graham Mc DougallAt the end of the match MFA treasurer Antoine Portelli presented the Members Associations Trophy to the SWAN captain and medals to the winners and finalists. Commemorative plates were also presented to the other participants, MESA, ISA and MFCA.In a short comment the MFA official expressed his satisfaction at being present for such an event for amateur players.
