For young Kurt Vella, life has not all been rosy. In fact Kurt has had from birth some genetic issues which effected his nervous and muscular systems. For years, Kurt's mobility was very restricted and he was under the countinuous care of specialists who suggested that apart from medical interventions, engaging the youngster in some form of physical/sporting activity could be a useful therapy. After trying out some individual sport activities his parents took to speak to administrators at the Sirens Football Nursery in an attempt to give Kurt the opportunity to experience team sport. Sirens F.N. immediately obliged, and took the lad on board. In months, football has worked wonders for Kurt. Initially, his physical abilities limited him to very short  spells of activity. But with the help and individual attention of Sirens administrator Philip Chircop, and the dedication of his coach Chris Bartolo, as well as the embracing welcome and team support from all of the Sirens Under 15 team mates, and obvioulsy his own great determination, Kurt has in a few months indeed come a very long way. Kurt is today a diffrent person. We could see from his sparkling eyes and big broad smile that he is now an immensily happy young man who has found football as his main therapy and that has greatly helped his physical abilities and more importantly his self-esteem. Mrs Vella (Kurt's mother) is today also a very happy mother who could not hide her appreciation to what the game of football has done to her son. The MFA got to know about Kurt's story and made Kurt's lifetime dream come true. That of meeting face to face with all the members of the Malta National Football team. This happened yesterday at the MFA Training Grounds in Ta' Qali and coach Pietro Ghedin presented Kurt with an official team shirt worn by captain Michael Mifsud. MFA Head of Marketing, Norman Saliba also presented Kurt with a FOOTBALL FOR LIFE T-Shirt. Saliba said that MFA has taken up Football for Life as it's tag-line for all it's Football Social Responsibility initiatives to help improve the image and the perception towards the game. Both in the way that football can benefit society, locally and worldwide, as well as to protect and safeguard the game that has been the game of the people for hundreds of years. We are sure that Kurt will embrace 'Football for Life' Well Done Kurt . . . . . Well Done Sirens F.N. A video of yesterday's activity including comments from Kurt himself, Mrs. Vella and coach C. Bartolo will be relesased shortly by MFA.
