After the first & the second phases during this week the final phase was held at the Cottonera Sports Complex.  The teachers in charge were able to choose the elite of their college.    The programme for secondary schools was from Monday to Thursday, with Monday and Wednesday being taken up by the girls, and Tusday and Thursday by the boys. That of the primary schools was on Friday.    The majority of the state schools took part in this phase attracting no fewer than 900 participants. Once again the event turned out to be very successful, with the youngsters all happy and beaming at being able to show their football skills to many spectators who attended, including National Women’s coach Pierre Brincat, Technical Director Robert Gatt, Bernard Vassallo KSU, and the foreign delegates who were here in Malta for the Uefa Study Group. The main sponsors of the festival, Teamsport, assisted the Malta Football Association, whose efforts in promoting such festivals are geared towards widening the base of youngsters who take up the game as a sport.  This material backing from the sports apparel firm and the association in the shape of newly designed T-shirts and sports equipment to schools was complemented by General Soft Drinks who provided the participants with refreshments.  The MFA also awarded a Fairplay award daily.  And the best support award for the Primaries chosen by Louis Agius (South end Core)
