  • 05 October 2015  Referees’ Committee meeting chaired by Alex Manfrè, Malta FA Vice-President.

 

  • 06 October 2015   Laws of the Game Seminar conducted by Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha, at Pembroke Athleta FC.

 

  • 08 October 2015  UEFA appointed FIFA Referee Esther Azzopardi as the referee of the UEFA Women’s Champions League Round of 32 match between Olimpia Cluj Napoca (Romania) and Paris Saint-Germain (France) played at the Cluj Arena in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.Esther Azzopardi was assisted by FIFA Assistant Referees Angela Kyriakou (Cyprus) and Biljana Atanasovski (FYR Macedonia), while Andra Hiticas (Roumania) acted as 4th Official.  Jan Fasung (Slovakia) was referee observer, while Elena Charina (Russia) was the match delegate.

 

  • 13 and 15 October 2015  On the 13th, FIFA referee Esther Azzopardi took charge of the Women’s International Friendly Match, Estonia vs Malta: FIFA Estonian officials Triinu Laos and Anni Rahula were her assistant referees while FIFA referee Reelika Turi acted as 4th Official; Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha was referee observer.  Two days later, Esther Azzopardi was 4thOfficial with refereeReelika Turi, and Triinu Laos and Anni Rahula in another encounter between the two countries; Hannes Kaasik was referee observer.  Both matches were played at the Sportland Arena in Talinn.

 

  • 14 October 2015  A training session for assistant referees conducted by Assistant Referees’ Specialist Philip Agius,was held at the Centenary Stadium.

 

  • 14 October 2015  Laws of the Game Seminar for Under-15, Under-17 and Academy  coaches at Birkirkara FC, was conducted by Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha.

 

  • 15 October 2015  Referees’ Committee meeting chaired by Alex Manfrè, Malta FA Vice-President.

 

  • 15 October 2015  Following the completion of the Talent & Mentor Programme 2013/2015, a Pasta Night was held at the Penny Black Pub, Victoria Hotel, Sliema, during which, in the presence of their mentors, the successful talents were presented with their certificates by Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha.

 

  • 18 October 2015  Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha was guest on the Sunday evening TVMalta sports discussion programme Kontrattakk hosted by Sandro Micallef.

 

  • 19 October 2015  Director of Refereeing Adrian D. Casha and FIFA referee Clayton Pisani were guests on the Monday afternoon Radio Malta sports discussion programme Kontrattakk hosted by Sandro Micallef.

 

·        19 October 2015  A Technical Meeting for FIFA, Elite and Elite Development match officials, and Referee Observerswas held at the Refereeing Department Conference Hall.

 

·        21 October 2015  FIFA referee Alan Mario Sant took charge of the UEFA Youth League 2015/16 Domestic Champions Path Round One, Second Leg match between Beşiktaş Youth (Turkey) and Aktobe Youth (Kazakhstan), played at Maltepe Hasan Polat Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.  He was assisted by FIFA Assistant Referee Duncan Sultana and Elite Assistant Referee Luke Portelli, while Oğuzhan Uğurlu(Turkey) acted as 4th Official.  Muharrem Zihni Aksoy (Turkey) was the referee observer, while Orkhan Huseynzade (Azerbaijan) was the Match Delegate, both appointed by UEFA.

 

  • 22 October 2015  FIFA RefereeClayton Pisani was in charge of the UEFA Europa League Group H match, Sporting Clube de Portugal (Portugal) vs KF Skenderbeu (Albania), played at Estadio Jose Alvalade stadium in Lisbon.  The Malta FA Refereeing Department appointed FIFA Assistant Referees Alan Camilleri and Mitchell Scerri, FIFA Referee Marco Borg and Elite Referee Philip Farrugia as additional assistant referees, while FIFA Assistant Referee Edward Spiteri carried out the duties of 4th Official.  UEFA officials Volodymyr Petrov (Ukraine) and Marton Esterhazy (Hungary) were the referee observer and the match delegate, respectively.  This was the first UEFA Group Stage match for FIFA Referee Clayton Pisani since his promotion to Category 1 earlier this year; and the first ever appointment for a Maltese refereeing team in the UEFA Europa League Group Stages.

  • 25 October 2015  Interviews with FIFA Referee Clayton Pisani regarding his experience of the UEFA Europa League Group Match Sporting Clube de Portugal (Portugal) vs KF Skenderbeu (Albania), played at Estadio Jose Alvalade stadium in Lisbon three days before, were carried on the Sunday evening sports programmes Kontrattakk on TVMalta and Replay on Net TV.

 

·        26 October 2015  FIFA RefereeEsther Azzopardi took charge of the Women’s EURO 2017 Group 1 Qualifying stage match, Slovenia vs Iceland, played at the Sportni Park in Lendava, Slovenia.  She was assisted by FIFA officials Araksya Saribekyan (Armenia) and May Moalem (Israel) as Assistant Referees, and Petra Bombek (Slovenia) as 4th Official.  UEFA officials Andreas Schluchter (Switzerland)and Sanna Pirhonen (Finland), were referee observer and match delegate, respectively.

 

·        26 to 31 October 2015  FIFA Adrian Azzopardi was appointed by UEFA to take charge of matches in the European Under-17 Championship 2016 Qualifying Round Group 7, played in Liechtenstein; the MFA Refereeing Department appointed Elite Assistant Referee Christopher Francalanza to participate in this mini-tournament. Other appointed match officials were from Belarus, Armenia and Switzerland. The participating teams with hosts Liechtenstein were Croatia, Czech Republic and Gibraltar.  Adrian Azzopardi was 4th Official in the Czech Republic–Liechtenstein match; and referee in the Croatia–Liechtenstein, and Liechtenstein–Gibraltar matches.  UEFA Referee Observers Rune Pedersen (Norway)and Patrick Kelly (Ireland)were appointed to assess the performances of match officials at this mini-tournament.  Michał Listkiewicz (Poland)was the appointed UEFA Delegate.

 

  • 24 September to 27 October 2015  End ofRefereeing Course for Beginners organised by the Malta FA Refereeing Department, Centenary Stadium, Ta’ Qali.  Sessions (started on 24 September) were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings at the MFA Refereeing Department, Centenary Stadium, Ta’ Qali.  The sessions were mainly theoretical to cover all FIFA Football and Futsal Laws of the Game; a written and oral examination, as well as a fitness test were held in the very end.

 

  • 31 October 2015  Opening of this year's Referees' Academy, now in its fifth season: for the first time,students will attend for one year only instead of two, as was the case up to last season.  Another major change is that the new Project Leader is Mr. Paul Caruana.
