National Football Centre

The National Football Centre (NFC) is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art complex that represents a major milestone in the Malta FA’s long-term vision for the development of football in Malta. Designed to serve as the central hub for football activity in the Maltese Islands, the NFC brings together modern infrastructure, high-performance facilities and administrative operations under one roof.

Stadium

At the core of the NFC is a Category 1 stadium that can accommodate over 350 spectators, fully compliant with UEFA requirements. Since its completion, the stadium has already hosted several competitive fixtures, including matches from the UEFA Women’s Under-17 and Under-19 European Championship Qualifiers, as well as international friendly matches, confirming its capability to stage international-level football.

Facilities

The NFC offers a wide range of modern facilities designed to support performance, development, and operational excellence. These include:

  •  Sport science lab
  •  Dressing rooms
  •  Fully fledged gym
  •  Multi-purpose hall for conferences and other events
  •  Office spaces
  •  On-site eatery
  •  Parking area
  •  Accessible stadium

All facilities have been purposefully designed to provide a professional, efficient, and inspiring setting for players, coaches, officials, and staff.

Technical and National Teams Hub

The centre is fully equipped to function as the operational hub of the Malta FA Technical Sector, enabling the relocation of the former Technical Centre’s operations and the full logistical management of all national teams to the new building.

This centralisation enhances coordination, efficiency, and collaboration across all technical and national team activities.

Sustainability & Investment

The National Football Centre project was made possible through funding and support from the Government of Malta, the National Development and Social Fund, the Malta Development Bank, Project Green, and UEFA Sustainable Infrastructure. The project reflects a strong commitment towards sustainable development and long-term investment in Maltese football.

Vision & Development

The National Football Centre embodies the Malta FA’s vision of strengthening football through a solid and sustainable foundation across all levels of the game. Through state-of-the-art facilities and inspiring environments, the centre supports player development, coaching education, inclusivity initiatives and the continued growth of football at both local and international levels.

Inauguration

The National Football Centre was officially inaugurated in September 2025 during a ceremony attended by several distinguished guests, including Hon. Prime Minister of Malta Dr Robert Abela, Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and UEFA Vice President Jesper Møller Christensen, among others.
