MALTA        1 LITHUANIA 1(Lithuania win 3-1 on penalties) Malta had to settle for fourth place in this year’s Aphrodite Cup after losing to Lithuania 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. The Maltese girls enjoyed a bright start as they took the lead after only two minutes. Dorianne Theuma’s drive was partially saved by the Lithuania goalkeeper and Martina Borg nipped in to steer the ball home. Lithuania took only four minutes to equalise, scoring from a free-kick. Theuma and Rachel Cuschieri had the best opportunities to restore Malta’s lead but failed to convert their chances. With the score tied at 1-1 at the end of normal time, the game went into a penalty shoot-out. Theuma scored the only penalty for Malta while Lithuania struck three times from the spot to clinch third place. MALTA LINE-UPRachel Borg, Kelly Agius Pace (23 Rebecca Bajada) (67 Yasmeen Vella), Ann-Marie Said, Kim Parnis (46 Brenda Borg), Stephania Farrugia, Dorianne Theuma, Ylenia Carabott, Rachel Cuschieri, Martina Borg (24 Alishia Sultana), Jade Flask (70 Gabriella Zahra), Charlene Zammit.
