Two Goals by Michael Mifsud pave the way for first victory over Luxembourg
One goal in each half of the match by captain Michael Mifsud gave Malta a first ever victory over. Luxembourg. And it had to come away from home.
This was the first match for Pietro Ghedin on his return to guide our National Team. A victory which not only went down well with the sizeable and noisy Maltese gathering at the Josy Barthel Stadium, but which augurs well and to boost our players' morale, for the forthcoming commitments.
Ghedin's starting eleven lined up as follows;
A. Hogg, A. Muscat, A. Agius, J, Caruana, G. Sciberras, R. Briffa, D. Bogdanovic, C. Failla, A. Cohen, A. Schembri and M. Mifsud (capt).
P. Fenech, S. Borg, J. Zerafa, and E. Agius replaced G. Sciberras, A. Muscat, A. Agius and A. Schembri respectively.
