Malta ended the third match of the European Qualifying Round Group 7, with a 1-4 final score against Bosnia Herzegovina at the Olimpijski Stadium.  The inability of our girls to defend their area during the set pieces, especially corners, has again cost the team a good result. Our girls conceded three goals from the corner kicks as they did in the second match against the Czech Rep. At all other times they shared the spoils with their opponents. In the 24’ Bosnia forged ahead when their centre forward netted after receiving directly from the corner spot. In the 43’ Bosnia made it 2-0 from a dubious penalty. In the second half the team played better yet conceded two more goals from a corner and a free kick in the 50’ and 76’. Malta managed to score its consolation goal through Brenda Borg who beat the off side trap and planted the ball at the back of the net. The team finished at the bottom of Group 7 with one point. Malta ended the game in 10 men after Shona Zammit was sent off for a second yellow card. Malta’s starting line-up was:               1.Rachel Borg, 2. Nicole Cutajar (Gales 45), 3. Charlene Cassia, 4. Emily Pace, 5. Jade Flask, 6. Alichia Sultana, 7. Martina Borg (Zerafa 81), 8. Claudette Xuereb, 17. Brenda Borg (Capt), 11. Shona Zammit, 13. Giusti Raina (Aquilina 75)
