UEFA Under 16 Development Tournament in Liechtenstein

Malta’s Under 16 team was this week involved in the UEFA Under 16  Developement Tounament held in Liechtenstein.  Malta’s first match of the tournament was against the hosts and which ended in a 1-1 draw. Striker Matthew Guillaumier put Malta ahead after 5 Mins from the penaltyspot. Liechtenstein equalisedin the 40th min. The result remained at 1-1 until the end with Malta subsequently losing the match 5-4 after a penalty shoot-out Malta lined up as follows  -  Timothy Aquilina, Connor Zammit, Nichlas Pulis, Gavin Schranz, Matthew Guillaumier (capt), Justin Vella, Russel Fenech, Kieran Xuereb, Zac Brincat, David Xuereb, Jurgen Sciriha.  -  Subs Used: Benjamin Caruana, Carlos Grech, Paul Lapira, Ryan Camilleri, Michele Sansone, Jamie Zerafa.  In the second Match of the tournament Malta faced Gibraltar and coach Anthony Garcia made no less than six changes from the first match’s starting line-up. Malta ended up 3-2 winners thanks to a last minute strike from captain Matthew Guillaumier. Guillaumier had earlier given Malta a 1-0 half time lead scoring on the 22 minute mark, with Nicholas Pulis scoring Malta’s second in the 51st  minute Malta’s starting lineup against Gibraltar: Dorina Bugeja, Gavin Schranz, Matthew Guillaumier (capt), Justin Vella, Kieran Xuereb, Benjamin Caruana, David Xuereb,  Carlos Grech, Paul Lapira, Ryan Camilleri, Jamie Magri Overand   -   Subs Used: Connor Zammit, Nichlas Pulis, , Russel Fenech, Zac Brincat, Jurgen Sciriha, Michele Sansone,
