The Maltco Lotteries First Division Knock-Out and the Quick-Keno Second and Third Division Knock-Out draws were made at the Centenary Hall during an MFA Press Conference today, also attended by officials of Maltco Lotteries Ltd.
The ten First Division teams were divided into two groups of five each, with the draws being made for the first phase, while the 32 Second and Third Division teams, with the exception of Gozo FC who have not entered the competition, were divided into eight groups of four teams each.
Group matches for the First division team will be played on a one-round league basis in the first phase. The lower division teams will be mixed on a streamlined basis and the preliminary rounds will also be played on a round robin system. Both competitions will later on enter the pure knock-out stage.
MFA President Dr Joe Mifsud announced that paying attendance for these two knock-out competitions increased over the past season, with that for the Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out increasing by hundred per cent.
While explaining in detail, the association's work throughout the season, Dr Mifsud said the support by sponsors was necessary and his association was grateful for this assistance. Part of this sponsorship was going directly to clubs.
Mario Cassar, General Director of Maltco Lotteries Ltd said that this was the sixth year that his company has sponsored the MFA Knock-Out competitions, adding that his firm was looking forward to renewing its agreement in the coming season.

Group 1: Lija Athletic, Melita, Msida St. Joseph, Mosta, Balzan Youths.
Group 2: Mqabba, Pietà Hotspurs, St. Andrews, St. George's, Dingli Swallows.
All group matches will be played between Saturday 18th September and Sunday 17th October.
Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out - Preliminary Round Groups
Group1: Mellieha,Ghaxaq,Rabat,Mdina
Group2: Gudja,Gzira,SantaLucia,Zejtun
Group3: S.Gwann,Fgura,Mgarr,Marsa
Group4: Pembroke,Birzebbuga,Siggiewi,Zebbug
Group5: Mtarfa,Qrendi,Marsascala,Zurrieq.
Group6: Sirens,Kirkop,Xghajra,Naxxar.
Group7: Gharghur,St.Venera,Swieqi,Senglea.
Group8: Attard, Luqa St. Andrew's, Kalkara, St. Patrick.
All Preliminary Round Group matches will be played between Wednesday 1st September and Thursday 23rd September.
Both competitions will end in May.
